Pause sign origin

Pause sign origin originated from ‘caesura‘, A sign used in poetry and musical compositions to mark a complete pause.Unless you were growing up in the 70s, You would know those two little vertical lines button on your remote control. (nothing like freezing your favorite moments on your VHS over and over until the tape wears off, If you know what I mean. right? right?)

Anyway, This sign is called Caesura, featured a lot in the greek and latin verse. In poetry this sign would tell the reader of the poem the length and stress of syllables.

In music notation it means a brief, silent pause, where metrical time is not counted.
